Abbaye de Fontenay
Founded in 1118 by St Bernard, fontenay Abbey is one of the oldest Cistercian monasteries in France. the Romanesque architecture gives a remarkable homogeneity to the whole conventual buidings. The visitor discovers one afte the other the church, the dormitory, the cloister, the champter house, the scriptorium and finally the forge built in a 2 hectare park. Located in the Valley of fontenay, a totally protected aréa, the Abbey is listed on UNESCO's World Heritage list since 1981.
