Château de Pitray
|
|
In the 14th century, a feodal residence stood on the land of Pitray, replaced ine the 16th century with a manor built by the Ségur family, Lords of Pitray and others places. During the Second Empire, in 1868, Viscount de Simard de Pitray built the existing castle which stands, surrounded by grounds planted with centenarian oaks and cedars. The style is Renaissance (neo-gothic) favoured by Viollet le Duc and modified by architect Blaquières to suit the taste of the times. Since the 14th century, the successive generations of the Pitray family have always endeavoured to harmonize at best tradition with progress, so as to produce wine whose high quality is recognized through out the world. The doors of Pitray are open to all those wishing to learn more about our wine. The present descendants, Count and Countess de Boigne are happy to show their visitors the fruit of an uninterrupted family tradition, destined to the production of high quality wines.
