Hôtel & Spa La Baronnie
In the heart of the village, here is an exceptional estate set within a site loaded with history. La Baronnie, a residence listed on the Historical Monuments Supplementary Inventory, together with Le Bien-Etre, an 18th-century manor house, makes up a most charming hotel, unique throughout the Island of Re. La Baronnie has 7 guest rooms and family suites, every one refined and personalised, and bearing names reminiscent of the island's prestigious past. The Chambre du Roy (King's room) is a reminder that Louis XVI once bought the property for Marie-Antoinette. Le Bien-Etre has 7 spacious rooms and 2 independent pavilions that will beckon you to relax. The extensive gardens will whisk you into a verdant setting, a stone's throw from the harbour. Non smoking hotel.
The beaches closest to La Baronnie are "la plage de la Cible" at the bottom of the ramparts of Saint-Martin or, 3 Km south, the long beach stretching all the way from Sainte-Marie to Ars, bordered by sand dunes.
The island is flat and 50 Km long. It is a perfect paradise for cyclers. Biking on its 100 Km cycle paths is the best way to visit the area while having a nearly constant view on the sea.
Bicycles can be rented easily in the village.
