Set on the southern edge of Carhaix-Plouguer in central Brittany, Manoir de Kerlédan a 16th century manor house, is an oasis of peace and tranquility, lying in 7 acres of its own grounds. From a dilapidated ruin in the mid 1990's, the old house has gradually been restored, retaining its lovely arches, huge granite fireplaces and lime plastered walls, to be transformed into a luxurious comfortable home.
Behind it's sculpted stone facade, dating back to around 1540, lies a warmth of hospitality, where Penny and Peter offer stylish, country house, bed and breakfast accommodation in its tranquil surroundings. The bedrooms are large and comfortable, with crisp white linen sheets, on comfortable beds and luxurious en-suite facilities.
Its grounds, once an overgrown jungle of fallen trees and brambles, have been rescued and replanted with hedges, lawns and gardens. Formal box parterres and pleached limes adorn front and rear courtyards, whilst the cutting garden and potager provide a bountiful supply of fresh flowers, fruit and vegetables for the household.
One of the advantages of Carhaix's central position in Brittany, is the vast choice available if you want to explore the region more thoroughly, with river, woodland and coastal scenery, historic towns, chateaux, abbeys gardens, culture and music, plus sporting facilities, all within an hour's drive.
