The imposing gothic edifice, 17th and 18th centuries, guards the tomb of Pope Clement V, first French pope in Avignon (1314). His pontificate was marked by Philip le Bels' clasches with Rome. The destruction of the Templars and the curse of Jacque de Molay add an air of mystery to this beautifull collegial church.
